The Cedar Rapids Fire Department (CRFD) Honor Guard is a specialized unit that performs ceremonial duties at memorials, funerals, and special events. Established in 1997 following the passing of firefighter Bob Chapman, it was one of the first fire department Honor Guards formed in the State of Iowa.
Today, 22 members volunteer their time to provide these essential services and represent our department with the highest level of respect.
The CRFD Honor Guard stands ready to attend services for:
- Active-duty firefighters and members of their immediate families
- Retired firefighters
- Firefighters and police officers from surrounding communities
- Officials within the Cedar Rapids Local government.
